        9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Closed on Thursday)

Entry Fee:
  •           10 rupees per person for children upto 5 years of age
  •           30 rupees per person for visitors above 5 years of age on Saturday, Sunday & Government holidays
  •          25 rupees per person for visitors above 5 years of age on other days
  •          5 rupees per person for Aquarium
  •          250 rupees per hour for video camera

 The,  Zoological Garden, Alipore is India’s oldest officially stated zoological park. The Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata is usually known as Calcutta Zoo or Alipore Zoo. It is one of the busiest touristattraction in Kolkata, West Bengal. Alipore Zoo is spread across an area of 46.5 acres. It was founded and opened for visitors in 1876.

Alipore zoo is very famed for having been a home to several indigenous species of mammals, reptiles and birds, spanning over the past 140 years. However, the most popular once are the Bengal Tiger, White Tiger, African Lion, Giraffe, Zebra, Pelican, Giant Tortoise, Pheasant, etc. Aldabra giant Tortoise โ€œAdwaitaโ€ was most famous of them is now expired, who lived for 250 years before dying in the year 2006.
The place is a must visit for nature enthusiasts, or for families with children, to explore the abundant and plentiful wildlife of the country as its best and also a separate Children’s zoo is present. The central water bodies inside the zoo grounds attracts migratory birds, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kolkata, it draws huge crowds during December and January (winter season).
